Marcus Rashford: Pundit verdict on Man United star joining Tottenham after agent’s claim

Tottenham are in a position to sign better players than Marcus Rashford this summer.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 24-year-old’s future.

Italian super-agent Roberto De Fanti told CaughtOffside on Wednesday (8 June) that there have been talks between Rashford‘s camp and Tottenham about a possible transfer this summer.

He also claimed the forward would cost between £70million and £80million.

As per The Telegraph (27 May) Antonio Conte is said to be intent on signing a versatile striker who can also operate out wide as well as through the middle.

McAvennie claims Rashford would not make it into the current Spurs starting XI.

“He’s not better than Kane or Son,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He has to leave Man United, that’s for sure. I hope for his sake he can get his head in the right place.

“He hasn’t kicked a ball since the summer of 2021. He is a good player and maybe he needs a fresh start.

“I don’t know how you can be so good and so bad in the same season but that is just Man United at this point.

“Maybe as a squad player he could do it at Tottenham, maybe.

“But Man United will ask for massive money to let him go and Tottenham can do better I think.”
