Marcus Rashford reacts to Aston Villa star Emi Martinez’s message before ‘final’
Emi Martinez received a reaction from his Aston Villa teammate Marcus Rashford after sharing a new update on social media.
The Argentine is preparing for a clash of the titans, with Lionel Scaloni’s side set to welcome Brazil to Buenos Aires in the early hours of Wednesday 26 March, in the quest for World Cup qualification.
Martinez and his teammates are leading the race to the 2026 World Cup, with Ecuador, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay and Colombia all sitting inside the qualification spots.
Beating one of the tournament’s favourites would certainly send a message, and with how key Martinez has been for Villa over recent seasons, he likely has a big role to play during the clash.

Emi Martinez preparing for Argentina’s battle against Brazil
Taking to Instagram [24 March], Martinez wrote: “Last day of training. Always enjoying and giving the best. Tomorrow is a final,” with an Argentina flag.
Ready to fight alongside the Villa star, Julian Alvarez liked the post, and so too did Man United loanee Marcus Rashford.
Unai Emery has own battle to plan back at Aston Villa
Football Insider verdict
Unai Emery will be hoping for his shot-stopper to return to Villa Park completely unscathed, even with the star’s form being up and down for the entirety of this season.
Martinez often steps up at the big moments for club and country, proven by his saves during the 2022 World Cup final, and Emery will be desperate for more of those moments over the coming weeks.
Villa are still in with a chance of a top-four finish in the Premier League, but with all eyes on the FA Cup and Champions League, Emery cannot afford to put all of his eggs in the same basket.
Aston Villa’s next 5 fixtures | Competition |
Preston North End (A) | FA Cup |
Brighton (A) | Premier League |
Nottingham Forest (H) | Premier League |
Paris Saint-Germain (A) | Champions League |
Southampton (A) | Premier League |
The Villans’ accomplishments this season could have a real bearing on the club’s summer transfer window, with fans wanting Villa to sign both Rashford and Marco Asensio.
Several stars have been linked with a move to Villa Park, but unless Emery’s side can remain strong and bring success and titles back, it might be just that little bit harder to persuade them that Birmingham is the right destination.
