Marcus Rashford responds to Jadon Sancho’s message as Chelsea exit beckons

Jadon Sancho’s post received plenty of reactions after Chelsea lifted the Conference League amid speculation surrounding his exit.

Chelsea enjoyed another memorable European night as they thrashed Real Betis 4-1 in the Conference League final.

However, it wasn’t as straightforward as they’d hoped, with Abde Ezzalzouli opening the scoring for Betis just nine minutes in. But once again, Cole Palmer rose to the occasion for Chelsea, delivering two quick-fire assists to shift the momentum in his side’s favour.

Sancho also impressed on the night, getting on the scoresheet alongside Moises Caicedo to seal another European trophy for the club.

Despite the celebrations, Sancho’s long-term future remains uncertain. Chelsea are still weighing up whether to pay a fee to cancel the buy obligation in his loan agreement or keep the England international at the club.

Nevertheless, he marked the victory with a celebratory post, which quickly drew attention from teammates and fans alike.

Chelsea weighing up Jadon Sancho transfer decision

Despite the ongoing speculation over his future, Sancho was in high spirits as he shared a celebratory post on Instagram, posing with the trophy and adding a fingers-crossed emoji.

The post sparked plenty of reactions across the football world. Marc Cucurella commented “Big player”, Morgan Rogers added “[Locked] in”, while Marcus Rashford responded with a heart emoji.

Meanwhile, former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Sancho is one of five players Manchester United are actively looking to offload this summer.

As it stands, there is an obligation in place for the Blues to make Sancho’s move permanent. However, Chelsea can pay a £5million fee to cancel Sancho’s loan arrangement, or alternatively complete the transfer for £25million.

Whether they choose to secure the 25-year-old on a permanent basis or walk away from the deal remains uncertain but he has had an inconsistent campaign, managing five goals and ten assists across all competitions — with only one Premier League goal in this calendar year.

Chelsea turn attention to Hugo Ekitike in striker search

While left wing remains a position of interest due to Sancho’s uncertain future, it’s clear that Enzo Maresca is also looking to add a new number nine to his squad as reports suggest Chelsea have joined the race to sign Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike.

Football Insider previously revealed that Liverpool are also monitoring Ekitike and have been told that a fee of around £80million would be enough to secure a deal.

With several top clubs in the market for a striker this summer, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will make a formal move, but Ekitike is clearly on their radar.
