Marcus Rashford responds to Marco Asensio’s message to Aston Villa fans
Marco Asensio was in high spirits on social media after Aston Villa beat Cardiff City at Villa Park following his crucial two goals.
Aston Villa secured their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals with a convincing 2-0 victory over Cardiff at Villa Park, with Asensio once again proving to be the difference after another brace
His first goal came after a perfectly weighted assist from Marcus Rashford—mirroring their link-up play in the 2-1 win over Chelsea on 22 February.
He doubled his tally with an impressive display of composure, controlling the ball in the box before firing a clinical strike into the bottom-right corner.
Asensio previously shared a message with Villa fans after his breakthrough performance against the Blues, and after yet another match-winning display, he once again expressed his delight following the win.

Marcus Rashford and Tyrone Mings react as Asensio celebrates Aston Villa win
Asensio shared his excitement on Instagram after Aston Villa’s FA Cup triumph, posting: “Onto the next round!” along with two football emojis—signifying his two goals against Cardiff.
His post drew reactions from several teammates, including Rashford and Morgan Rogers, who both replied with emojis in the comments. Tyrone Mings, Lucas Digne, and Matty Cash also showed their support by liking the post.
Since arriving on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January, the forward has had a mixed run of game time, much like fellow loanee Rashford.
While the Englishman has impressed with his creativity and assists, Asensio has made his mark with goals—netting four times since his arrival. Remarkably, he has already scored more for Villa than he managed for PSG in the first half of the season.
Rashford has already been linked with Barcelona and Bayern Munich following his displays, but he and Asensio appear to have settled in well at the club.
Unai Emery must trust Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford amid fan pressure

Unai Emery came under scrutiny from Aston Villa supporters following a humiliating Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace in their previous match. He opted for a tactical shift, leaving both Asensio and Rashford out of the starting XI—despite the duo playing a crucial role in Villa’s win over Chelsea just days earlier.
With both loanees making an instant impact, it would be no surprise if the club is already exploring permanent deals. However, for now, the focus shifts to their crucial Champions League clash against Club Brugge on 4 March.
