Marcus Rashford sends message to Man United teammates after he’s axed

Man United star Marcus Rashford took to social media to send a message to his teammates after watching their 2-1 Europa League win over Rangers on Thursday (January 23) from the stands.

The 27-year-old was left out of the squad entirely as Ruben Amorim’s side earned a late win against the Scottish giants.

Rashford hasn’t made an appearance for Ruben Amorim’s side since admitting he wants a “new challenge” after their 2-1 win over Man City earlier in the season, missing their last nine games across all competitions.

Former Man United and current Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland’s own-goal opened the scoring for the home side, misjudging the flight of the corner and punching into the back of his own net.

Harry Maguire’s missed header allowed Cyriel Dessers to bag the equaliser in the 88th minute, and Rangers looked well on their way to earning a valuable point at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes had other ideas, however, latching on to Lisandro Martinez’s pin-point cross to finish past Butland on the volley.

The winger had been a key player for United before Amorim took over, starting 19 of his 24 games across all competitions, scoring seven goals, and providing three assists in his 1500 minutes of action.

Rashford may not have a future at the club, but he’s still intent on supporting his teammates, taking to Instagram to share an image from the stands, saying: “Come on the boys.”

United win over Rangers sees them climb up to fourth in the new Europa League league phase, with 15 points from their seven games.

Amorim’s side have won just two games in normal time from their last nine across all competitions as they prepare for a trip to Fulham on Sunday (January 26).
