Marcus Rashford told to stall Man United contract talks amid ‘£400,000-a-week’ claim – Agbonlahor
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Marcus Rashford could double his Man United wages to £400,000-a-week despite a Glazer-imposed wage cap at the club.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old has the Red Devils “in a corner” and the club will have “no choice” but to smash their wage structure.
According to The Sun (23 March), Rashford could hold off on signing a new Man United contract until the ownership situation at Old Trafford is resolved.
The report claims the Glazer Family, who are currently in charge of the club, have imposed a wage cap ensuring no player can earn more than £300,000-a-week.
Rashford currently earns a reported wage of £200,000-a-week at his boyhood club but his deal is set to expire in less than 18 months.
The England international has notched 27 goals and nine assists in 44 appearances so far this season.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “The club don’t have a choice.
“I don’t blame Rashford for waiting it out. He won’t care about a wage cap.
“He’s in the best position in world football. He’s in a hot streak, playing the best football of his life – and he’s got 18 months left.
“If he doesn’t get what he wants at United, he would get it anywhere else. Any other top club would pay that.

“The wage cap has to be smashed. I can see Rashford getting £400,000-a-week, because of the position he’s in.
“He’s got Man United in a corner. He won’t be in a rush to sign anything, and it’s a headache for the club because they now can’t afford to lose him.”
