Marcus Rashford update gets Man United reply, emotional ‘miss you’ Aston Villa plea

Marcus Rashford has been updating fans on his return from injury, with both Manchester United and Aston Villa players showing their support on social media.

Rashford sustained a hamstring injury before Aston Villa’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Crystal Palace and has since travelled to Dubai to continue his recovery amid doubts over playing again this season.

The 27-year-old fell out of favour at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim and completed a loan move to Aston Villa in January as he looked to get his career back on track.

Since his move to Villa Park the forward has registered four goals and five assists, as well as earning himself a call-up to Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad back in March, but he may not play again before the end of the campaign.

Fernandes, Zirkzee and Martinez react to Rashford injury update

With Rashford unable to feature when Aston Villa face Man United in their final game of the season due to his loan deal, the forward has only two more chances to play again before the summer.

Villa travel to Bournemouth on Saturday (10 May), before hosting Tottenham a week later, but despite his slim chances of returning to the pitch again this season, Rashford is still working hard to recover.

The Englishman took to Instagram to provide an update on his rehab, posting a video of himself in an ice bath with the caption reading: “Recovery.”

Current Aston Villa teammate Emi Martinez commented: “We miss you bro,” with Man United striker Joshua Zirkzee simply saying: “Marcus.”

Rashford’s captain at United, Bruno Fernandes, also showed his support for the attacker by liking the post.

Time for Rashford and Man United to part ways

Football Insider Verdict

As Rashford’s loan spell at Aston Villa nears an end, Manchester United must make a decision on whether to keep their academy graduate, or if it is best for both parties if he’s allowed to leave permanently.

There have been spells at Old Trafford when the England International has been unplayable, but for far too long now he has looked dejected and out of sorts in a red shirt.

Despite not being completely back to his brilliant best at Villa, Rashford showed some signs of recovery and at least looked like he was regaining some of his confidence under Unai Emery.

There is a £40million buy option for Aston Villa as part of the Rashford loan deal, should they decide to keep the winger, but high wages could put the move in doubt.

Whether he heads back to Villa Park, or goes elsewhere, for the good of his career Rashford must leave Manchester United this summer.
