Marcus Rashford ‘won’t play for Man United again’, he could accept ‘pay cut’ to complete move

Marcus Rashford is looking to seal a permanent move to Barcelona after joining on loan from Manchester United.

Barcelona signed Rashford on a season-long deal from Man United in the summer transfer window after Ruben Amorim made it clear he wasn’t in his plans.

Rashford has been tipped to make a permanent move to Barcelona following his impressive form for the Catalan side.

The Spanish giants hold the option to buy the England international for around £30million next summer.

Speaking to talkSPORT on 3 November, European football expert Andy Brassell revealed Barcelona are planning to offer Rashford a pay cut to sign him permanently.

How much does Marcus Rashford earn?

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Rashford could be willing to accept a pay cut depending on the numbers involved.

Man United are saving around £20m in wages after loaning Rashford out for the campaign, with the forward’s £325,000-a-week deal running until June 2028 at Old Trafford.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 28-year-old accepting a pay cut, Borson said: “He seems desperate to go to Barcelona, so I think it’s possible, but it depends on the scale of that pay cut.

“Does he want to surrender £100k a week? it’s quite a lot of money, but what are his options? If he goes back to United, I think the reality is that he’s not going to play for United again.

“There’s probably limited other clubs that would want to go down that process again and pay him the £300-350k a week that he’s entitled to.”

It has been reported Rashford making the permanent move to Barcelona could depend on the future of Robert Lewandowski, whose contract is set to expire in June 2026.

Barcelona backed to agree Rashford deal

Borson insisted Hansi Flick’s side are likely to sign Rashford permanently due to the relatively low option-to-buy clause they agreed with Man United.

“I think in all likelihood, Barcelona will do the deal,” said Borson.

“I mean, they’ve agreed a pretty low price for the option, even if they have to end up paying him quite a lot of money. Barcelona are well used to paying a lot of money for players.

“The fee is relatively low for a player of his quality and age still. I suspect they’ll end up buying him for the option price and they’ll do a deal with him, where he won’t be particularly out of pocket versus his Manchester United pay and they’ll go from there.”

Rashford has registered six goals and nine assists in 16 appearances for Barcelona this season.
