‘Marcus Rashford’s Man United exit set to be confirmed after Matheus Cunha arrival’
Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, and it could spell the end of Marcus Rashford’s time at Old Trafford.
Cunha scored 15 goals and picked up six assists last season, with his contributions proving vital as he steered Vitor Pereira’s side clear of a relegation battle.
Man United triggered a £62.5million release clause in the Brazilian’s contract, but the 26-year-old joins a club fraught with issues.
Ruben Amorim’s side fell to their worst ever Premier League finish in the 2024/25 campaign, ending up 15th with just 42 points.

Cunha replaces Rashford
Man United have handed Cunha the number ten shirt, worn previously by legends such as Wayne Rooney, Bobby Charlton, and George Best.
Marcus Rashford, who has been linked with a move to Barcelona, was the previous owner of the number until he went on loan to Aston Villa in January.
It’s just further evidence that the winger will be departing Old Trafford this summer, as he looks to kickstart his career away from his boyhood club.
Amorim froze Rashford out of the Man United team at the beginning of the year, with the England international undergoing a revival of sorts under Unai Emery.
| Club | Games | Goals | Assists |
| Man United | 15 | 4 | 1 |
| Aston Villa | 10 | 2 | 2 |
However, a hamstring issue curtailed his loan spell at Villa Park, leaving the attacker’s future up in the air as the transfer window opens.

Cunha must perform at Man United
Football Insider Verdict
Cunha’s move to United comes with big expectations, and the pressure will be on the Brazilian to perform immediately.
Currently, the Red Devils have a poor track record when it comes to big-money signings, with a number of their recent purchases struggling to live up to their price tag.
Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Andre Onana all came to Old Trafford for huge transfer fees, but for various different reasons, each of them can be considered huge failures.
To make matters worse, the same players have performed before and sometimes after they arrived at United, like Antony has done during his loan spell at Real Betis.
Something is either going seriously wrong in the recruitment stage, or the atmosphere at the club is so toxic that player cannot reach their ceiling, and either way the problems must be solved if the Red Devils want to begin fighting at the top again.
