Mario Lemina issues Nelson Semedo message after Wolves captaincy stripped
Wolves midfielder Mario Lemina has taken to social media after he was stripped of the captaincy in the aftermath of the 2-1 loss to West Ham.
The Hammers defeated the Midlands club with goals from Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen at the London Stadium.
After the game, Lemina got into a scuffle with goalscorer Bowen, refusing to shake his hand. The 31-year-old then pushed teammate Nelson Semedo and clashed heads with coach Shaun Derry.
Despite the tensions, it seems those frustrations have since settled. Lemina reacted on social media to the announcement that he lost the captaincy to Semedo this week [BBC Sport].
On Instagram, he posted an image of the new skipper and wrote: “Love my brother Nelson Semedo. You know everything. Big fan”. He added, “Let’s overcome all this situation”.
Wolves need to block out the noise with Gary O’Neil still at the helm
Wolves’ loss on Monday night (8 December) keeps them in the relegation zone, sitting in 19th place. They remain four points adrift from the bottom and four points away from safety.
Many expected the former Bournemouth manager to be sacked after the defeat, but Wolves appear to be biding their time.
This delay could stem from the “lack of replacements” available, as their previous talks with Graham Potter have stalled [The Mail].

However, Lemina’s comments may offer Wolves fans some hope that all is not lost in the dressing room.
O’Neil’s side will host Ipswich on 14 December at Molineux Stadium, a match that could prove crucial in closing the gap on their relegation rivals.
In other news, Wolves could be forced to sell a star man in January.
