Mark Lawrenson predicts Tottenham v Burnley

By Dominic Toner

Mark Lawrenson believes that Tottenham will be too strong for Burnley when they meet on Sunday in the Premier League.

Spurs host Sean Dyche’s side during a busy December period and will be looking to follow up their 3-0 victory against Hull on Wednesday.

Mauricio Pocehttino’s side cruised past Hull at White Hart Lane, with Christian Eriksen (2) and Victor Wanyama scoring the goals to ensure the three points.

The north London club are currently fifth-placed in the Premier League table and are still regarded as potential title winners this season, but must close a 10-point gap to leaders Chelsea.

Lawrenson expects Spurs to record a 2-0 victory against Burnley, who suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against West Ham in midweek.

“Tottenham were decent against Manchester United without offering much of a threat, but they were too strong for Hull in midweek and I am expecting a similar outcome on Sunday,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.

Burnley have picked up just one away point this season and will be huge underdogs to get anything from White Hart Lane.

Spurs are currently just three points behind fourth-placed Manchester City and will be focused on breaking into the top four.

They have lost just twice in the league this season, but the defeats against Chelsea and Manchester United have come in their last four games.

Pochettino decided to switch formation against Hull and his new system seemed to bring the best out his players.

The Argentinian used a 3-4-2-1 formation and his two wing-backs, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose, provided great width and attacking threat on the flanks.

Spurs will be looking to build some momentum in their next few games as they face Southampton and Watford after the Burnley clash.

In other Tottenham news, the club’s supporters are calling for Pochettino to axe their best player.
