Martial tipped to start and 28-yr-old out in Man United XI v Chelsea today after early team news
Danny Mills has tipped Michael Carrick to make only one change to the Man United starting XI against Chelsea.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England defender suggested Carrick will feel a sense of “loyalty” to the players who beat Villareal in the Champions League in midweek.
Captain Harry Maguire is suspended for the visit of Chelsea after his red card against Watford last weekend.
As quoted by the club website ahead of the game (November 26), Carrick admitted they were waiting to see whether Fred would be available after picking up a hamstring injury in midweek.
Jadon Sancho scored his first goal for the club out in Spain and Mills suggested he will be Carrick’s main man.
“They did OK in midweek,” he told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“They stayed in the game and David de Gea made a couple of outstanding saves which certainly helped them.
“Carrick will probably think ‘Look, we won the game’ and I’m sure there will be a bit of loyalty to those players who did well for him in that situation.
“Sancho’s goal will lift a weight off his shoulders. If he plays again Michael Carrick can say ‘Look, you are my man. Go out and play’. That can only be a good thing, it will give him that confidence and self-belief to perform.
“It happens with new managers ‘You’re my man, I believe in you. Maybe the old manager didn’t but I do, go out and show me what you can do’.”
Tuesday’s win over Villareal saw Alex Telles and Anthony Martial handed rare starts.
Donny van de Beek also replaced Bruno Fernandes in the starting XI.
