Martin Keown delivers warning to Tottenham fans, slams this £50m duo
By Amir Mir
Martin Keown has delivered a warning to Tottenham fans by stating they should not “get too far ahead of themselves”.
These comments come after Spurs were knocked out of the Europa League on Thursday night and the disappointing reaction from supporters after their early exit.
Keown believes the north London club are an “excellent team”, but did slam summer signing duo Vincent Janssen and Moussa Sissoko.
The former Arsenal centre-back believes the “£50million” spent on the attacking duo “could have been spent a little better”.
After West Ham’s draw against Watford on Saturday evening, these were Keown’s comments on Spurs following their exit from Europe.

“I don’t think the Tottenham fans should get too far ahead of themselves,” Keown told BT Sport. “This is an excellent team, they are building a brand new stadium, the costs of all that, we already heard that from Arsenal and how restrictive that was.
“He [Pochettino] has wasted a little bit of money on one or two signings, Jansen at the top of the team is not the best and Sissoko. That is £50million that could have been spent a little bit better.”
Mauricio Pochettino will be now gearing his team geared up for a Premier League clash against Stoke at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.
The north London club are currently in third place and could leapfrog second-placed Manchester City with a win, but they could also drop out of the top four if they drop points and Liverpool beat Leicester on Monday night.
The attacking duo of Janssen and Sissoko will be hoping to play a part in the encounter against Mark Hughes’ side as they have struggled at their new clubs.
Striker Janssen joined the club from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar while Sissoko made a switch from recently-relegated Newcastle.
Between them in 34 league appearances, they have scored only one goal as Frenchman Sissoko is yet to find the back of the net in 24 games for the club.
