Martinez agent 'kicking down doors' for Tottenham move after source update today - ex-manager

Alex McLeish has suggested Lautaro Martinez’s agent will be “kicking down doors” at Inter Milan to secure a move to Tottenham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland manager insisted the 23-year-old would be a “very exciting” addition to Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.

A recruitment source told Football Insider (August 9th) Martinez has informed friends he has his “heart set” on joining Spurs.

As detailed on August 10th, Spurs remain in talks with Inter and held discussions with the £75million-valued superstar’s representatives on Monday.

Martinez, who is out of contract in 2023, is understood to be keen on joining a Premier League outfit.

McLeish suggested the hitman’s agent would be pushing the chiefs at Inter to make a move to Tottenham happen.

“Lautaro has been very exciting to watch over the last couple of years,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“At Inter, he’s had a great season with Antonio Conte. If he’s keen for a move then you would think that his agent will be kicking doors down.

“He has been on the wanted list of a lot of clubs. If Spurs is his choice and he goes there, he’s a centre-forward who can upset defenders.

“Spurs would need players of that particular calibre to replace people that may go.”

Martinez scored 17 goals and contributed 10 assists to help fire Inter to the Serie A title last season.

He also has 14 goals in 28 appearances for Argentina.

In other news, Tottenham have given the green light for another attacker to sign for new club.
