Former Tottenham star Ryan Mason has been left raving over the talents of star striker Harry Kane and predicts that he will stick at the club despite speculation over his future.
The 24-year-old have been in imperious form since breaking into the senior side with Spurs, scoring over 20 league goals in each of the last three Premier League campaigns and picking up two successive golden boot awards.
This season has seen him break the 20 goal barrier once again, and he has scored 35 times in his 39 appearances across all competitions.
With some of the biggest clubs in world football reportedly chasing his signing, Mason has delivered the prediction that all of the club’s supporters wanted to hear, insisting he thinks Kane is destined to break records and pick up silverware with the Lilywhites.
“He’ll break Shearer’s record, he’ll break Rooney’s record for England – I’m so confident. The attraction of Spurs for Harry at the moment is the way they’re playing.
“He doesn’t need to win a trophy right now. Harry I belive will stay at Spurs, he will stay there scoring goals, and I believe he will win trophies with Spurs.”
Football Insider verdict
Perhaps Mason, as a Tottenham supporter, has his rose (or rather Lilywhite) tinted glasses on, but he makes a valid point about Kane’s aspirations and whether he would achieve them anywhere else. Spurs have given him the platform to take his game to the next level, and he has done just that as the main man. He might have to battle with another top class centre forward were he to leave and as Mason says, that could impact his chances of becoming the record breaking forward he wants to be. Everyone will have to wait and see until the summer, but if Mason’s prediction comes true, then there will be cause for celebrations in the white half of north London.
