Mason Greenwood: Major update on Man United star’s future as new details emerge – Sources

Mason Greenwood wants to stay in Spain next season rather than return to Man United, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that Greenwood, 22, would prefer to remain at Getafe, where he is currently performing well on loan from the Red Devils.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the forward is settled in Spain and is “happier than ever” in his new surroundings.

Another loan move from Old Trafford or a permanent exit is now looking very likely for Greenwood in the summer transfer window.

Mason Greenwood has made a decision on his Man United future

Sources told Football Insider earlier this month (2 March) that the club plan to put Greenwood up for sale and will accept an appropriate offer.

Greenwood was removed from playing duties at Man United following accusations of assault in 2022, which were subsequently dropped in February last year.

He moved to the La Liga outfit on loan for the remainder of the season last summer and has scored eight goals and provided five assists across 26 games in all competitions.

Getafe are reportedly keen to make Greenwood’s loan move permanent in the summer and they will only have to pay 80 per cent of any agreed price to United.

Across 129 appearances for Man United in all competitions, Greenwood scored 35 goals and provided 12 assists after progressing through the youth ranks.

Man United

Man United sit in sixth place in the Premier League table after their 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday afternoon (9 March).

They are next in action against rivals Liverpool in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon (17 March).
