Mason Mount sends emotional message to Lisandro Martinez after Man United update
Man United midfielder Mason Mount has sent a message to Lisandro Martinez after the Argentine suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury against Crystal Palace.
The Red Devils were defeated 2-0 by the Eagles on 2 February, with a brace from Jean-Philippe Mateta sealing the victory at Old Trafford.
However, Martinez reportedly sustained the ACL injury and was substituted in the 82nd minute. He is not expected to play again this season [Daily Mail].
Mount took to Instagram to offer his support, posting a story with a picture of the two together and the message: “All here for you, brother”.
Man United suffer major blow without Lisandro Martinez as Mason Mount remains sidelined
Martinez has made 20 appearances in the Premier League this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist. This setback comes after he struggled with a series of injuries last season, missing a total of 42 games.
The Argentine had proven to be a solid option for manager Ruben Amorim, but now United must look for alternatives in defence. Fans have expressed disappointment over the injury, especially as Martinez was beginning to regain form. One possible alternative could be youngster Ayden Heaven, who was signed from Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Mount has also faced multiple injury setbacks since joining United in 2023 under Erik ten Hag. As a result, he has only made 33 appearances for the club.
This season alone, Mount has already missed 15 games, adding to the 27 he was sidelined for in the previous campaign [Transfermarkt]. These recurring absences have led to frustration among fans, with some suggesting it may be time for him to be sold.
Football Insider Verdict
It would be unfair to judge Mount based solely on his time at United, which has been plagued by setbacks. What is clear, however, is that he continues to spread positivity on social media and is well-liked within the dressing room.
In other news, Man United supporters believe that Ruben Amorim will quit the football club.
