Mason Mount sends message after Man United agree another marquee signing

Mason Mount has sent a one-word message to Bryan Mbeumo after Man United announced they have completed his signing from Brentford.

United had been locked in extensive negotiations to sign the Cameroon international before eventually meeting his £70million asking price.

He becomes United’s second marquee signing of the summer following the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

Ruben Amorim had identified the 25-year-old as a key target to bolster his attacking options after he scored 20 goals in 38 Premier League games last season.

Since the deal was confirmed, Mbeumo has been showered with messages from the likes of Yoane Wissa, Ethan Pinnock and Ivan Toney.

Alongside his former teammates, though, United’s first-team squad have begun welcoming their new teammate to Old Trafford.

Mason Mount sends Bryan Mbeumo message at Man United

Mount has dealt with extensive injury issues since his arrival at Old Trafford in 2023, and started just 11 games across all competitions last time out.

Towards the end of the season, he was deployed as one of the two number tens in Amorim’s system – the same position Mbeumo will now fill.

Former United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in June that Man United could sell Mount to make way for the likes of Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha this summer.

However, he appears to be up for the challenge of his new competition’s arrival, as he shared the announcement post on Instagram with the caption “Welcome”.

Benjamin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres: Old Trafford striker update

Following the addition of Mbeumo alongside Cunha’s arrival earlier this summer, Amorim remains determined to strengthen his attacking options this summer.

Football Insider revealed on 22 July that Man United could sign RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko after Arsenal set their sights on a move to sign Viktor Gyokeres.

Sources say that United are considering Sesko as a very real option to lead the line at Old Trafford next season after missing out on other key targets.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Man United will look at alternative striker options after Gyokeres made clear his intentions to join Arsenal.
