Mason Mount sends message to Man United fans ahead of Man City showdown

Man United midfielder Mason Mount already has his “Head down” ahead of the Manchester derby with Man City on Sunday (December 15).

The 25-year-old came off the bench in United’s 2-1 Europa League win over Viktoria Plzen on Thursday (December 12), replacing Joshua Zirkzee just after the hour-mark.

Former Burnley striker Matej Vydra opened the scoring for the home side just after halftime due to a mix-up between Andre Onana and Matthijs de Ligt.

Rasmus Hojlund came off the bench to save the day for Ruben Amorim’s side, bagging a brace to send United into the top eight of the new Europa League league phase.

Mount has struggled for minutes due to injury issues once again this season, starting five of his 11 appearances across all competitions and failing to provide a single goal contribution in 389 minutes of action.

Man United star Mason Mount is looking forward to crucial Man City clash

Pep Guardiola’s side have won just one in their last ten games in all competitions, including a 4-1 defeat to Amorim while he was still in charge of Sporting.

City suffered a 2-0 defeat to Italian giants Juventus in their European clash, dropping them to 22nd place with a challenging fixture against French champions PSG up next.

Mount took to Instagram after the game to let the fans know he’s focused on the game against arch-rivals Man City, captioning his post: “Head down – onto Sunday.”

United’s 3-2 defeat to high-flying Nottingham Forest saw them sink back into 13th, with five wins, four draws, and six defeats from their 15 Premier League games.

Amorim’s side will face Ange Postecoglu’s unpredictable Tottenham side in the League Cup Quarter-final after their game with City.
