‘Massive’ Andy Robertson verdict issued by pundit after confirmed Liverpool news

Andrew Robertson will be a “massively important” figure at Liverpool for Calvin Ramsay over the next few years, according to Kevin Campbell.

The former Arsenal and Everton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Robertson, 28, will be responsible for making sure Ramsay, 18, “gets a really good grounding.”

On 19 June, Liverpool confirmed the signing of Ramsay from Aberdeen on a long-term contract.

Speaking to club media shortly after, the right-back detailed how he aims to “show everyone at the club” why he they signed him in pre-season.

The Scottish teenager’s game time is expected to be limited next season with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez at Anfield.

Campbell believes Robertson, who is the captain of Scotland, will be a key figure for Ramsay.

“Listen, Andy Robertson will be massively important for him,” he told Football Insider.

“But so will the likes of James Milner and Virgil van Dijk. They will be key for that young man. They all have to take the young man under their wing. They have to look after him. That is the name of the game.

“You show him how you train, how you eat and how things are done. The young man gets a really good grounding and then develops there and then.

“Further down the line he comes in and starts playing. He can then do the same for another young lad in a few years time. That is the way it works.”
