'Match made in heaven' - Exclusive: Bent drools as Celtic in advanced talks to sign PL winner

Darren Bent claims that Celtic and goalkeeper Joe Hart could be a match made in heaven for next season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Tottenham and England striker believes the 33-year-old free agent would be a fantastic addition to the squad at Parkhead.

The Daily Record report that talks between Celtic and Hart are at an advanced stage as Neil Lennon looks to replace Fraser Forster between the sticks for next season.

The Hoops boss confirmed to Sky Sports that he was looking at alternative options for the Southampton stopper after the 32-year-old put a prospective loan deal on ice.

Bent believes Hart could reignite his career at Parkhead and suggests he would be motivated by the prospect of winning trophies with the Bhoys.

Asked if Hart and Celtic could be a “match made in heaven”, Bent told Football Insider: “100 per cent, I’d go and get him.

“I’m sure Joe – he’s won the Premier League, he’s won big trophies over here – he should go up there and fill his boots, win as much as he can, do you know what I mean?

“He’s been a top goalkeeper, obviously Ederson or Bravo came in and Hart was surplus to requirements at City, he went to Burnley and didn’t end up playing as much football as he would have liked there.

“So go to Celtic, fill your boots with trophies, play well – I’m sure for someone like Joe, it’s not all about the money as well, he’s probably earned enough at Manchester City, probably earned a bucketload of it, so it’s just about him playing games now.”

“If he can go to Celtic and win trophies, it’d be perfect.”

Hart played just three times across all competitions during the 2019/20 campaign before being released by Burnley.

He has 340 Premier League appearances and two top-flight titles under his belt, as well as 75 caps for England.
