Mateusz Klich reacts to Junior Firpo’s message after Leeds United contract plea
Junior Firpo caught the attention of past and present Leeds United stars as the left-back continues to run down his contract at Elland Road.
The Dominican Republic international is in the final few weeks of his contract, with no sign of extending his stay in Yorkshire, even after being prompted to “sign the ting” by Largie Ramazani on social media.
That has not stopped him from celebrating alongside his teammates, however, who all enjoyed an open-top bus parade in the streets of Leeds on Monday, 5 May, after beating Burnley to the league title.
It all came down to the last day of the Championship season, and even with Firpo missing, the Whites overcame Plymouth Argyle thanks to Manor Solomon‘s winner in added time at Home Park.

Taking to Instagram (6 May), Firpo wrote: “What a day, what a football club,” with blue, yellow and white heart emojis, earning reactions from many of his teammates at Elland Road.
Pascal Struijk, Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu, and Jayden Bogle were joined by former star Mateusz Klich and Betis’ former West Ham star Pablo Fornals in liking the post.
Daniel Farke ready for squad overhaul ahead of Premier League promotion
Football Insider verdict
While the Whites reached 100 points and pipped Scott Parker’s side to the title on goal difference, many do not believe that the squad is strong enough to stay in the Premier League next season.
Farke’s future as Leeds manager has also been thrown into disrepute, having never been able to prove himself in the top tier of English football on two separate occasions with Norwich City.
Championship table | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goal difference | Points |
1. Leeds United | 29 | 13 | 4 | +65 | 100 |
Paraag Marathe has openly backed the manager now, which should have been said a long time ago, but it is important that the boardroom does its speaking with actions during the summer transfer window.
The Whites are likely to field offers for Ao Tanaka, Pascal Struijk, Joe Rodon, and Willy Gnonto, just to name a few, with Football Insider understanding that Leeds will not build their attack around Joel Piroe.
Farke will need several additions to the current squad if his side are to survive in the Premier League next season, and not just shoot straight back down to the Championship, and moves need to be made quickly.
