Matheus Cunha and Rodrigo Muniz react to Wolves star Joao Gomes’ ‘dreams’ message

Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes has shared an emotional message which has created a reaction among Premier League stars.

Gomes was a key part of the Wolves side which managed to avoid Premier League relegation last season and finish 16th under the guidance of Vitor Pereira, after he took over from Gary O’Neil last December.

The midfielder joined Wolves from Flamengo in 2023, and his performances at the club earned him a new five year deal in April.

Wolves will be looking up the table under Pereira next season and have already confirmed the permanent signing of striker Jorgen Strand Larsen alongside new additions Fer Lopez and Jhon Arias.

Cunha likes Wolves ace ‘dreams’ post

Taking to Instagram, Gomes shared a message to his wife as the pair took a trip to Venice before the start of the new season.

Gomes captioned the post: “I love to realise our dreams,” which was liked by former Wolves player Mateus Cunha and fellow Brazilian international Rodrigo Muniz.

Cunha left Molineux this summer to join Manchester United, whilst Muniz could leave his club Fulham to join Leeds United.

Pereira has key priorities ahead of Prem opener

Football Insider Verdict

Gomes was one of Wolves’ most consistent performers in a tough campaign last time out, with his box-to-box tenacious style helping drag his team out of the relegation zone and to safety.

Tying him down to a new deal before the transfer window opened was smart business by the club as the 24-year-old could have received plenty of interest.

Pereira still has lots of transfer business to pursue as Wolves prepare for a tough Premier League opener against Manchester City.

Wolves have made the right-back position one of their priorities following the departure of Nelson Semedo, after the 31-year-old did not sign a new contract at the club.

A new goalkeeper and centre-back are also priority positions for Periera as Sam Johnstone looks set to move on and Craig Dawson has already departed.

Strengthening the defence is a requirement after Wolves conceded 69 goals in 38 Premier League matches last season.

Pereira has goals to call upon and the latest signing of Arias from Fluminense looks set to add an increased dynamism to his attack.
