Matheus Cunha stalling Wolves talks amid relegation fear – sources
Matheus Cunha will not rush into a decision on a new Wolves contract, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (3 December) that the Midlands club are keen to extend the 25-year-old’s deal at Molineux.
Cunha, who is under contract until June 2027, has been in fine form for Gary O’Neil’s side at the start of the 2024-25 campaign.
Wolves want to fend off interest in their star attacker from clubs in the Premier League and in Europe, with Football Insider revealing (26 November) that Man United are plotting a move to sign him next summer.
Sources say the forward is happy scoring goals and having a major impact at Molineux, but he is unlikely to rush into a decision while the threat of relegation looms large.
Cunha could stall Wolves talks amid relegation fears
It is believed he could wait to see the outcome of this season at Wolves, who sit 18th with nine points from 13 top flight games.
Cunha has hit seven goals and notched three assists in the Premier League so far this term.
However, interested clubs could offer him a route back to the Champions League – where he played for Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig.

The 25-year-old joined Wolves on loan in January 2023, with an obligation to buy clause making the move permanent for a reported fee of £44million later that year.
Cunha has since notched 23 goals and 12 assists in 70 games for the Midlands club.
