‘Matheus Cunha has played his last Wolves match as Man United offer accepted’ – fans rage

Matheus Cunha’s potential move to Manchester United has left Wolves fans keen to see the back of him at Molineux.

Cunha has been the key man for Wolves this season with 14 Premier League goals and four assists for Vitor Pereira’s side, who sealed their top-flight safety on Sunday with a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford.

Wolves moved level on points with Man United in 14th as a result and have scored 10 more goals than Ruben Amorim’s team, with the Red Devils manager keen to add Cunha to his squad for next season.

Pereira was without Cunha for five games after his suspension for a post-match incident with an Ipswich staff member after a 2-1 loss in December, but he’s still been able to steer Wolves clear of the drop zone.

Matheus Cunha makes contact ahead of Man United move

Man United are far from the only Premier League big-hitter keen on a deal for Cunha this summer, with Champions League-bound duo Arsenal and Nottingham Forest also in the hunt to sign the Brazilian.

However, the Red Devils are the front-runners to secure a deal for the 25-year-old, and Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider that Cunha’s £62.5million release clause is still affordable for a cash-strapped Man United.

Cunha’s discipline issues could be a red flag for the teams interested in him

On 21 April, Fabrizio Romano reported via X that Cunha and Man United officials have already discussed personal terms for a move to Old Trafford, with “good feelings” between the two parties after their initial negotiations.

Wolves fans want Matheus Cunha dropped – ‘Better without him’

The Molineux faithful are already convinced that Cunha’s head was turned towards Old Trafford some time ago, and as a result it’s no surprise for them to learn that his move to Man United has edged closer.

With just five matches left to play this season and several clubs able to pay his £62.5m release clause, Wolves supporters were unified in their view that Cunha should be left out for the rest of the campaign.

Man United only being above Wolves in the Premier League table was also laughably ironic for some fans, and several argued Cunha is only after the money and profile of being on the books at Old Trafford.
