Matheus Cunha reacts to Joao Gomes’ Wolves message after Blackburn victory

Wolves striker Matheus Cunha has reacted to his teammate Joao Gomes’ message to fans after they beat Blackburn in the FA Cup.

The 23-year-old Brazilian midfielder opened the scoring for his side in a 2-0 win over Blackburn in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Before the talented midfielders opener, Blackburn could have been awarded a penalty against Wolves in the 26th minute, after Emmanuel Agbadou brought down Augustus Kargbo.

Gomes was played in by Hee-Chan Hwang in the 33rd minute, and the former Fluminense midfielder finished neatly past goalkeeper Balazs Toth.

It took just one minute for Wolves to double their lead, with Cunha being assisted by Nelson Semedo in the 34th minute.

Gomes had been linked with Liverpool and Man United in the January transfer window, but a move failed to materialise.

Cunha will definitely leave Wolves in the summer, sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider, as the Midlands side hope to make the most of his talents this season.

Joao Gomes sends ‘blessed’ message after links away from Wolves

Gomes posted on his Instagram following Wolves’ win, posting 10 photos of himself in action, captioned: “Blessed by Jesus.”

Gomes’ teammates Cunha and Agbadou both liked the post, and Fulham and Brazilian international, Andreas Pereira also liked the photos

Wolves will find out their opponents in the fifth round of the FA Cup when the draw is made on Monday 10 February, at 7pm on BBC One.

Wolves find good form after tumultuous January transfer window

Axel Disasi chose to join Aston Villa over Wolves, causing Vitor Pereira’s side to pivot to other targets.

Deals were agreed for centre-back Nasser Djiga, and midfielder Marshall Munetsi from Red Star Belgrade and Reims on Deadline Day.

Captain Mario Lemina also left the club in January, following a bust-up with Pereira, and Wolves will hope that their new signings can help shore up a leaky defence this season.

Only Leicester and Southampton have conceded more than Wolves’ 52 this season.

However, following a win over Villa, Wolves have now made it two on the bounce with their win over Blackburn and will hope to build on those victories to guarantee their safety in the Premier League this season.
