Matheus Cunha sends message to Liverpool icon as whispers intensify
Wolves forward Matheus Cunha has sent a message to former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho after being linked with a move to the Premier League leaders.
According to Caught Offside, Liverpool are one of several Premier League clubs keeping tabs on the 25-year-old, although he won’t force a move in the January transfer window.
Cunha was the star of the show in Wolves’ 2-0 win over Man United on Boxing Day (December 26), scoring directly from a corner before selflessly setting up striker partner Hee-Chan Hwang in added time to secure all three points for the home side.
The win over Ruben Amorim’s struggling side saw Wolves leave the relation zone for the first time this season, leapfrogging Leicester into 17th.
Wolves forward Matheus Cunha “a fan” of former Liverpool ace Philippe Coutinho as stats emerge
The striker has been a rare bright spark for Wolves so far this season, starting 17 of his 19 games across all competitions, scoring ten goals, and providing four assists in 1537 minutes of action.
Coutinho is now the only Brazilian in Premier League history to have made more goal contributions in a calendar year than the Wolves forward, scoring 15 goals and providing eight assists in 2017 compared to Cunha’s 16 goals and six assists in 2024.
Cunha took to Instagram to repost the stat originally shared by CBS Sports Golazo and let his countryman know how he feels.

Cunha has the opportunity to add to his tally as Wolves travel to Ange Postecoglu’s chaotic Tottenham side for their last game of 2024 on Sunday (December 29).
Vitor Pereira’s side will then host high-flying Nottingham Forest in their first game of the new year as they seek to put further distance between themselves and the relegation zone.
