Matheus Cunha sends message to Wolves fans after source’s Aston Villa reveal

Wolves forward Matheus Cunha took to social media to send a message to the fans after their 2-0 FA Cup win over Blackburn on Sunday (February 9).

The 25-year-old scored Wolves’ second goal as Vitor Pereira’s side secured a spot in the FA Cup fifth round with a comfortable win over the Championship club.

Central midfielder Joao Gomes opened the scoring for Wolves in the 33rd minute after Balazs Toth in the Blackburn goal failed to get a grip of his tame close-range effort.

Cunha doubled their lead just one minute after with his 12th goal of the season, slotting the ball through Toth’s legs from a tight angle.

Football Insider revealed (February 8) that Cunha is still likely to leave the club in the summer transfer window after interest from several Premier League clubs in January.

The Brazilian recently signed a new contract at the club, keeping him at the Molineux until 2029, although there is a reported release clause for a fee of £62million.

Matheus Cunha is wanted by Arsenal, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest among others

He is on the radar of multiple top clubs, including Arsenal, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest from the Premier League.

The forward has been key for Wolves so far this season, starting 22 of his 25 games across all competitions, scoring 12 goals, and providing four assists in his 1987 minutes of action.

Cunha took to Instagram after Wolves’ FA Cup win over Blackburn to show off his Player of the Match award for his stellar performance.

Things are looking up on and off the pitch for Wolves after Football Insider revealed (February 6) that the club are confident of avoiding a profit and sustainability (PSR) breach this season.

Pereira’s side will travel to Premier League leaders Liverpool for their next game on Sunday (February 16) as they seek to put further distance between themselves and the relegation zone.
