‘Matheus Cunha made one special demand to complete £62.5m Man United move’

Wolves forward Matheus Cunha made a special request in his contract negotiations with Manchester United ahead of his upcoming move to Old Trafford.

Cunha has been a remarkable asset for the Molineux club this term, notching 15 goals and six assists in 33 Premier League appearances.

The Brazil international’s attacking exploits helped Wolves steer themselves away from relegation danger under Vitor Pereira.

But the West Midlands side have been unable to retain his services, as Cunha is now set to join Man United.

Cunha requested Man United number 10 shirt

The Wolves star could prove to play a key role in the Red Devils’ summer rebuild under Ruben Amorim after a poor Premier League campaign.

Meanwhile, talkSPORT have revealed on Monday, 27 May, that Cunha requested the number 10 shirt during his contract negotiations with the Old Trafford giants.

The report added that Amorim’s men have agreed an initial five-year deal with the 26-year-old, and will pay his £62.5million release clause in three installments.

Amorim is forcing Garnacho out of Man United

After steering Man United to a poor Premier League finish and a Europa League final defeat to Tottenham on Wednesday, 21 May, Amorim now faces an incredibly important summer transfer window.

The Red Devils must enjoy a significantly better season next term, having finished just 15th in the top flight this time around, despite their 2-0 victory over then Champions League chasers Aston Villa on the final day of the season on Sunday, 25 May.

Cunha has performed well for Wolves this term

As well as Cunha, Man United want to sign Ipswich’s Liam Delap, who has proven his class in the Premier League despite the Tractor Boys’ relegation back to the Championship.

But as the North West side eye the likes of Delap, they must also move some of their current players on, especially as Amorim continues to implement his system, which is vastly different from that of former boss Erik ten Hag.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown has exclusively informed Football Insider that Amorim is forcing Alejandro Garnacho away from Old Trafford.
