Matheus Nunes sends touching response to Man City star Tijjani Reijnders’ message
Tijjani Reijnders appears to be a popular member of Man City’s squad despite only joining earlier this summer.
The former AC Milan midfielder is expected to make an immediate impact for Pep Guardiola‘s side after scoring 16 goals in all competitions last season.
Reijnders joined Man City for £46.5million [BBC Sport], and he will likely fill Kevin De Bruyne’s spot in the Sky Blues’ midfield after the Belgian midfielder departed Manchester this summer.

The Belgian midfielder has chosen to join Napoli in the Serie A after a decade of dominance in England.
There is also the added weight for Reijnders and fellow Man City new men Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and James Trafford to instantly improve the club’s fortunes after a miserable 2024/25 campaign.
However, that will be no mean feat, as rivals Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool have all spent considerable sums themselves in a bid to claim the Premier League’s crown next season.
Tijjani Reijnders shares birthday message
Reijnders celebrated his 27th birthday in a way that many footballers do, by competing in a training session with their club.
The midfielder shared an image of himself in action alongside several of his new teammates on Instagram with the caption: “Birthday session. Thanks everyone for the love, really appreciate all the messages!”
Nunes responded by commenting “Irmao”, which translates to “Brother” in Portuguese.
Matheus Nunes set to retain spot at right-back
Football Insider Verdict
Unless Man City can secure Tino Livramento’s signature this summer, Nunes looks set to retain the right-back position.
Despite being signed as an attacking-minded midfielder, the Portugal international has carved out a niche as a playmaking defender under Guardiola.
Nunes has been linked away from the Sky Blues several times during his spell in Manchester.

But with Kyle Walker having departed for Burnley, and Rico Lewis unlikely to be trusted by Guardiola, it seems likely Nunes will be the first-choice once again next term.
The ex-Wolves man struggled initially after converting to Man City’s backline, but he enjoyed a strong finish to last season.
