Mathew Ryan is linked with a move to Celtic this summer as they look to improve their squad for the upcoming season.

The former Arsenal goalkeeper is currently playing in La Liga for Levante, but is out of contract in the coming months.

As a result, Celtic are looking to bring in Ryan, with the view of making him their number one goalkeeper.

Viljami Sinisalo has been the Hoops’ main man since the injury to Kasper Schmeichel earlier this season.

While the Finland international will be hoping to retain this place, everything points towards Ryan being a substantial upgrade for Celtic.

Despite Levante looking likely for relegation this season, Ryan has continued to impress for the Spanish club.

So far this season, he has kept six clean sheets as he aims to save the club from the drop.

According to Fotmob on 15 April, per 90 minutes, he is averaging 3.59 saves, a 69.8 per cent save rate, 0.06 goals prevented and zero errors that have led to goals.

While there might be scepticism about his potential move to Celtic, there is no doubt that these stats are impressive, especially in a tough league like La Liga.

In comparison, Sinisalo is well below Ryan in many of these stats, despite playing in a division with less attacking quality.

Therefore, it is quite clear that if Celtic follow through with their interest in the Australia international, he would be a big upgrade.

Who else are Celtic chasing ahead of the summer transfer window?

Football Insider exclusively revealed that Celtic were keen on Dundee’s Jon McCracken ahead of the summer transfer window.

The goalkeeper has impressed in the Scottish Premiership this season, and has had multiple eye-catching performances.

To date, he has kept five clean sheets in the Scottish Premiership through the season, and has one of the highest save percentages in the division.

With the 25-year-old’s contract up at the end of the campaign, the Hoops are considering a move in what could be a bargain deal.

However, it remains to be seen if Celtic are able to win the race to McCracken’s signature, with the Dundee star unlikely to be short on interested clubs if he decides to move on in the summer.
