Mathys Tel’s updated stance on Tottenham move revealed as delay emerges
Mathys Tel is open to turning his loan deal at Tottenham into a permanent stay, sources have told Football Insider.
All parties, including parent club Bayern Munich, remain confident a deal can be done, but a potential new manager will be consulted on the signing – delaying an agreement for now.
Current Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is expected to be sacked in the coming days despite winning the Europa League this term.
After joining Spurs on loan from the Bundesliga champions in February, Tel notched three goals and one assist in 20 appearances across all competitions.
Bayern Munich fee set as the waiting game begins
The France Under-21 international also played his part in Tottenham’s Europa League success, with five outings in the competition.
However, he watched on as an unused substitute when Postecoglou’s men beat Man United 1-0 in the final.

Although Tottenham are keen to keep him at the club, his price tag could prove to be a stumbling block after Football Insider revealed that Spurs will not pay Tel’s £45million buy clause.
The former Rennes star is under contract at Bayern until June 2029 and has found the net 16 times in 83 games for the German giants.

Frank keen on potential Tottenham vacancy
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (2 June) that Brentford boss Thomas Frank is interested in the Tottenham job after initial talks were held in recent days.
Frank has been with Brentford for seven years but it is believed the chance to make the jump to a traditional ‘big-six’ club and manage in the Champions League will be appealing.
Spurs are a bigger club with a larger budget than Brentford and their available transfer funds swelled even further after winning the Europa League in the 2024-25 campaign.
