Matt Le Tissier seriously impressed by Man United’s ‘best’ summer signing

Bryan Mbeumo has been Man United’s best summer signing after a decent start to life at Old Trafford following his move from Brentford.

That is according to Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier, who has exclusively told Football Insider that he thinks Matheus Cunha can become as important a player but Bryan Mbeumo has been the best of Man United‘s new arrivals up to now.

United extended their winning run to three games last time out with a 4-2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford.

Mbeumo notched a brace against the Seagulls to fire Ruben Amorim‘s side to all three points, after Cunha had bagged his first goal in United colours to open the scoring.

Benjamin Sesko also contributed towards a goal as he set Mbeumo up for his first goal on the hour mark, and the Red Devils are now sixth in the Premier League in the midst of their best run under Amorim so far.

Bryan Mbeumo has impressed since joining Man United

Mbeumo’s July capture from Brentford was the centrepiece of United’s window, as he is a more proven scorer than both Sesko and Cunha and he is exactly the profile of player that they needed to sign.

The Cameroon international scored his first goal for the club in a 3-2 win against Burnley in August, and his all-action performance in that game proved what kind of threat he is going to bring to Amorim’s ranks going forward.

He still has room to grow at 26-years-old, and his track record at Brentford, after scoring 20 league goals last term, and all the signs so far point to him being a key player for the club as they look to return to glory in the years to come.

He has registered five goals and an assist in 10 appearances for the club so far, while Cunha has one goal in nine appearances and Sesko has notched two strikes and one assist in 10 games.

Le Tissier picks out Mbeumo as United’s best summer signing so far

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former England and Southampton striker Le Tissier identified Mbeumo as United’s best signing of the summer window so far, but admitted that Cunha will also be very important to their good fortunes going forward.

He said: “I think Mbeumo has been probably the more consistent out of the new signings. Cunha will be able to get a big lift from getting a goal, because he was struggling a little bit.

He’s a good player, and I think he can be very, very useful for Man United going forward.

I’d say probably Mbeumo out of the three of those ones (Mbeumo, Cunha and Sesko) has probably been the best so far.”
