Matt Le Tissier taken aback by Wolves bust-up as latest footage analysed
Vitor Pereira should not have confronted the Wolves fans after their late defeat to relegation rivals Burnley on Sunday afternoon.
That is according to Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier, who has exclusively told Football Insider that the Wolves boss needs to unite the club rather than anger fans as they aim to avoid relegation this season.
The Molineux outfit are bottom of the Premier League table right now after picking up just two points from their first nine games.
They are now also six points from safety having failed to win a league game up to now in 2025-26 after a last-gasp 3-2 defeat to relegation rivals Burnley on Sunday (26 October).
Vitor Pereira is not set to be sacked as Wolves boss soon despite their woes, but he did not help his cause after their latest defeat by confronting fans as they sung for him to lose his job.

Pereira clashed with Wolves fans after Burnley loss
Lyle Foster bagged a 95th minute winner at Molineux on Sunday after Jorgen Strand Larsen and Marshall Munetsi had cancelled out Zian Flemming’s early brace.
Pereira clashed with the Wolves fans just minutes after the final whistle as he shouted, screamed and had to be restrained by his coaches while they remonstrated and sung ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning.’
Matchday captain Strand Larsen also confronted the home supporters, while Jose Sa was involved in an angry altercation outside the stadium as he tried to drive home.
After he had calmed down following the clash, Pereira admitted that he understood fans annoyances but asked them for more support by saying: “We understand the frustration of the people and supporters but what I must say, if we fight united with them, we can win games and compete and achieve our targets – without them, it is impossible.
“Two months ago they sang my name, because together with the work we did last season, we are competing in the Premier League and not Championship. Now they sing my name to sack me.”
Confronting the fans is the ‘last thing’ Pereira should have done – Le Tissier
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former England and Southampton striker Le Tissier offered his verdict on the confrontation and insisted that the 57-year-old should not have got involved with the supporters and instead looked to promote harmony as they look to get out of a relegation fight.
He said: “I didn’t particularly like seeing that (confrontation) at the end of the game. I felt that was needless, to be honest.
“If you’re on a bad run and you keep getting beat, I think the last thing you need to do is start arguing with the fans. As a club, you’ve got to stick together.
“I had that plenty of times in my career at Southampton, I remember kind of late 90s, we had a season where we, I think lost seven out of the first eight games, and at that point, the players and the management, you’ve just got to be humble about it.
“You are trying to do your best. You can understand the fans’ frustration, so when you have suffered another defeat, you’ve just got to go, ‘do you know what, we’re just not good enough at the moment, and we probably deserve the criticism that’s coming our way, but you know what, we’re going to fight our way out of this.’
“And I never, ever once felt like going to confront the fans, because they were giving us a bit of stick.
“If we’re getting stick, it’s because it’s justified and we’re not doing our job properly. And there’s no point, you can’t argue back with thousands of fans in a stand. It’s just pretty pointless, to be honest.
“If the club is going to stay up, there’s got to be a unity between the fans and the players, and it can be done better than having confrontations on the pitch after a game.“
