Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has shared that he believes star centre-back Virgil van Dijk will move to a bigger club than Everton when he does leave the south coast.
The 25-year-old has emerged as one of the best defenders in the Premier League and has been linked with a move away from St Mary’s.
Former boss Ronald Koeman is reportedly one of the interested suitors in the Holland international.
However, Sky Sports pundit Le Tissier responded to a fan on his personal Twitter account suggesting that bigger clubs will push the Toffees’ name out of the chase for Van Dijk.
@mattletiss7 Only a matter of time before Everton buy VVD. He moved to Koeman's agent in Nov. Saints have always been a feeder club.

Think he may attract the interest of bigger clubs IMO https://t.co/s0sapqhf9s

Van Dijk was brought to the Premier League and Southampton in the summer of 2015 in a £13million deal from Scottish giants Celtic.
He starred under Koeman in his first season for the Saints and has continued his form as the star of the club’s back four.
But, the defender only signed a new deal with the club back in May which takes him up until 2022, meaning his value may exceed that of the Toffees’ budget.
Koeman has already brought in former Southampton defensive midfielder Morgan Schneiderin in January and he will now be keen to add more players as he looks to continue to improve his side.
In other Everton transfer news, Koeman has confirmed that more Toffees stars don’t have a future at the club.
