Matt O’Riley: Celtic braced for new offer – sources
Celtic are readying themselves as Italian side Atalanta look set to make a new offer for their star midfielder Matt O’Riley, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Atalanta haven’t given up on signing the 23-year-old Denmark international.
Football Insider revealed (July 27) that Celtic are holding out for £25 million for their main man and Atalanta’s previous offers have fallen short of that valuation.
Celtic are in no rush to sell the midfielder and would love for him to remain at the club ahead of a grueling Champions League campaign.
O’Riley remains a key player for Celtic and has remained professional despite the ongoing transfer speculation starting both of the club’s Scottish Premier League games so far.
Celtic won’t let Matt O’Riley join Atalanta for cheap
Since joining from MK Dons back in January 2022 for £1.5 million, O’Riley has established himself as a key play for the Scottish Champions, making 125 appearances and scoring 27 goals.
Last season was by far the most prolific of his career, scoring 19 goals and providing 18 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions for the club.

This fine form has attracted interest from Premier League clubs with Atalanta facing competition from the likes of Chelsea, Brighton, and Southampton
Football Insider also revealed (August 10) that Celtic will find it hard to keep ahold of O’Riley amid Premier League interest.
The Glasgow club kick off their League Cup campaign on Sunday against Hibernian having just beaten the Edinburgh club 2-0 in the league.
