Mauricio Pochettino odds dramatically slashed for Tottenham return amid fan cries at Old Trafford

Tottenham fans have made their feelings clear on Thomas Frank, and they want him gone

Spurs were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, as boos sounded from the away end at full-time.

Cristian Romero’s sending off for a reckless challenge on Casemiro didn’t help the Lilywhites, who were at a disadvantage for a large part of the game.

Frank’s future at Spurs has been up in the air for a while now, and tensions seem to be reaching an all-time high regarding the former Brentford boss after another loss.

But boos weren’t the only thing heard from the Tottenham away end, with Mauricio Pochettino‘s name also being sung.

Mauricio Pochettino now odds-on favourite for Spurs job

Tottenham fans have been begging for Pochettino to return since he left N17 all the way back in 2019, and the situation with Frank has only heightened what supporters crave.

Now, the head coach of the US Men’s National Team, Pochettino is set to lead his side into the 2026 World Cup. But, not if Spurs pull on the heartstrings too much.

According to one major bookmaker on Saturday, Pochettino’s odds for the Spurs job have now fallen to 2/1, with Roberto De Zerbi a second favourite at 5/2.

Another bookmaker has Robbie Keane listed as 6/1 to replace Frank, with the much-talked-about Xavi Hernandez also at 6/1.

But there are obvious reasons as to why it will be hard to lure Pochettino back to N17.

Why Pochettino could says yes to Spurs despite USMNT job

Tottenham fans want Pochettino back for a reason. Apart from Ange Postecoglou, the Argentine is the most loved Spurs boss in recent times, and fans would love nothing more for him to come back and lift silverware.

It would surely be hard to convince the former Chelsea boss, considering the responsibilities he currently has for the USMNT, but the truth is, there’s no place like home.

Pochettino’s Premier League record at Spurs:

Pochettino may not get another chance to return to the Lilywhites in the near future, and now could be the perfect time for him to finish what he started with Spurs currently doing well in the Champions League.

Either way, any other new appointment would give the Spurs fanbase a boost, who haven’t been able to cheer about anything since that night in Bilbao last year.

There’s a clear chance for Pochettino to come home, and Joe Lewis could be one phone call away from making it happen.
