Mavropanos bids farewell as West Ham exit confirmed

West Ham defender Konstantinos Mavropanos responded on social media as an exit was confirmed from the club.

Graham Potter is overseeing a significant squad overhaul in his first summer at the helm of West Ham, as the club reshapes under his leadership.

The Hammers have already brought in two players expected to feature heavily in the first team, as West Ham compleed deals for Kyle Walker-Peters and El Hadji Malick Diouf.

But while new arrivals are settling in, several long-serving players have headed for the exit in what’s been a summer of change.

Aaron Cresswell, Lukasz Fabianski and Mohammed Kudus have all departed West Ham, while more exits are expected as Potter looks to put his stamp on the squad.

Among those with uncertain futures is Mavropanos. The Greek defender endured a disappointing campaign last season, and Football Insider reported that Potter is actively exploring replacements for Mavropanos to bolster West Ham’s options at centre-back.

While Mavropanos’ own future remains up in the air, he shared a subtle reaction on social media after another departure from the club was confirmed.

West Ham confirm Gideon Kodua loan move to Luton Town

West Ham have officially confirmed that youngster Gideon Kodua has joined League One side Luton Town on loan, with an option for a permanent transfer included in the deal.

The club announced the move via Instagram, and Mavropanos was among those to acknowledge the post, reacting with a like as speculation continues around his own future.

Football Insider previously reported that Luton had entered the race to sign Kodua alongside Reading and Leyton Orient. It’s now been confirmed that Luton have won the battle for his signature.

he spent the past 18 months on loan at Wycombe Wanderers, where he gained valuable experience in senior football. The 20-year-old made 20 appearances, though just two of those were starts.

A standout talent at youth level, Kodua captained West Ham’s U18s to FA Youth Cup glory in 2023, scoring in the final against Arsenal. However, first-team opportunities have been limited, and the move to Luton represents a key step in his development as he looks to prove himself further.

West Ham open to selling Niclas Fullkrug amid injury concerns

While Kodua departs on loan, another player who could soon be leaving is Niclas Fullkrug.

The German forward, who is one of the highest earners at the club, has endured a frustrating time with injuries since joining. According to reports, West Ham are now open to selling Fullkrug during the current window.

Should Fullkrug move on, it’s likely that West Ham will enter the market for a new centre-forward as Potter continues to reshape the squad in his first full summer in charge.
