Max Dowman ‘better than Yamal’ as Arsenal fans react to Newcastle masterclass
Arsenal wonderkid Max Dowman has been getting plenty of praise recently and he continues to catch the eye.
At just 15 years old, Dowman has travelled with Mikel Arteta’s senior squad for their pre-season tour of Asia.

The teenager has already been backed by ex-Arsenal forward Perry Groves to become an ‘elite’ star of the future.
Former Crystal Palace chief Simon Jordan has also heaped praise on Dowman in the wake of his senior debut in a friendly against AC Milan.
Max Dowman catches the eye again
Dowman was given another 30 minutes by Arteta in Sunday’s 3-2 win over Newcastle United.
The youngster only had 16 touches of the ball, but certainly made the most of them with a 100% pass success rate, one successful cross, two shots on target, two of three dribbles completed and six of eight ground duels won (Sofascore).
But most importantly, it was Dowman who won the penalty for Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard to deliver an 84th-minute winning goal.
Simon Jordan specifically tipped Dowman to emulate the achievements of Barcelona and Spain wonderkid Lamine Yamal, but some supporters believe he could even surpass the eye-catching forward, with the praise raining down on social media.
Gyokeres through the door but Arsenal may not be done yet
After a rollercoaster ride, Viktor Gyokeres is finally an Arsenal player, being unveiled by the club at long last on Saturday (26 July).
The Sweden international joins Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga through the door in what has already been a big-spending summer for the Gunners.
However, Arteta looks hellbent on finally winning the Premier League after finishing second three years running.
Following Sunday’s win over Newcastle, he was asked if yet more signings could come through the door to further boost Arsenal’s title claim, and he didn’t exactly close the door on the prospect.
“Let’s see, the market is still going on and we’ll have to balance that out with the squad as well,” Arteta told reporters (Sky Sports, 27 July). “I think we’ll be open to see what happens.”
Arsenal have most recently been linked with Eberechi Eze and Rafael Leao as the club seemingly chases further attacking reinforcements.
