Max Dowman tops three stats on Arsenal debut as 15-year-old shines vs Brighton
Mikel Arteta may have to think about giving Max Dowman more minutes in the Arsenal first team following his fine debut against Brighton.
Arsenal beat Brighton 2-0 in the Carabao Cup thanks to second half goals from Ethan Nwaneri and substitute Bukayo Saka.
Dowman became Arsenal‘s youngest ever debutant, beating the record previously held by Jack Porter at 16 years and 72 days old.
At 15, Dowman could become the Champions League’s youngest ever player should he feature in the competition this season, and Arteta may have to give that thought some consideration.

Max Dowman dazzles in Arsenal victory
Dowman’s technical quality has never been in question with the teenager always wanting the ball and always willing to take on his opponenet.
Maxim De Cuyper was given a torrid evening, as Dowman completed the most dribbles of any player on the pitch.
| Minutes Played | 71 |
| Touches | 34 |
| Accurate Passes % | 88% |
| Accurate Passes in the final third % | 83% |
Dowman though also showed his strength by competing in 15 duels, winning nine of them, and drawing the most fouls, as per TNT Sport on X [29 October].
Dowman should be in contention for Burnley clash
Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace means the Gunners are currently top of the Premier League table, so Dowman is unlikely to earn a starting place anytime soon.
However, Dowman should be considered by Arteta to be in the squad for matches against the likes of Burnley where Arsenal will be expected to have the majority of possession.
Dowman’s fearlessness and dribbling ability could be a major asset from the bench if the Gunners are struggling to break down opposition defences.
Arsenal’s incredible squad depth meant he wasn’t in the 18 against Crystal Palace in what is a luxury position for Arteta to be in.
