‘May have had a drink’ – Fans mock Jaime Carragher’s Liverpool claim after Pep Guardiola dig
Fans have mocked Jamie Carragher for his “pathetic” claim about how Liverpool never had the financial advantages of Man City during his playing days after Pep Guardiola’s swipe.
The Man City boss responded to suggestions from Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville, Micah Richards and Carragher who claimed the Citizens were becoming complacent after dropping points to Tottenham.
He hit back and questioned if any of the trio had won four Premier League consecutive titles and predicted his side to do so this season – a feat never achieved in top-flight English football.
The former Liverpool captain took aim at the treble winner’s claim and stated on his X account that his side would have won the league if, like Man City, they were backed by a wealthy nation-state and “pushed the rules”.
Fans have taken to social media to bring Carragher back to earth, and many feel he wouldn’t have even been at Liverpool if they had the resources of Man City.
This fan was not impressed by Carra’s claim.
This supporter feels he has gotten too big for his boots and is overhyping his quality during his playing days.
Some fans suggested that Carragher’s punditry has got to his head and warped his view of his footballing talent.
This supporter was adamant that he would have been axed from the Reds, whom he made 737 appearances for between 1996 to 2010, and swiftly replaced.
This fan suggested Carragher’s response was influenced by something more than pride.
One fan didn’t find Carra’s excuse all that convincing.
This supporter advised him to accept defeat “in peace”.
