‘Mbeumo wants to be one of top paid Man United stars after £60m+ Brentford exit’

Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo has his eyes on a huge wage increase at Man United this summer.

The Cameroon international enjoyed another excellent campaign with the Bees during the 2024/25 season, attracting plenty of interest from elsewhere in the process.

Last month, Football Insider reported that the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle and Man United are all keen to sign Mbeumo this summer.

While the attacker’s preferred destination has now emerged as Old Trafford, it appears there will still be some considerable negotiating required to agree a deal.

Bryan Mbeumo wages demands revealed

It has emerged that Mbeumo favours a move to Man United in the summer transfer window, and while that represents an opportunity for the Red Devils, it will not be cheap.

According to a new report from The Times, the 25-year-old wants a £250,000 per week salary to agree a move to Old Trafford.

That would apparently increase his wages five-fold from the £50,000 per week wage he is currently paid by Brentford.

It is noted that such a deal would make Mbeumo one of the highest earners at Old Trafford, with Ruben Amorim‘s side expected to make contact about a deal in the near future.

As well as his wages, it is stated Man United would face having to meet an asking price of at least £60million from Brentford to complete the signing of the attacker.

Mbeumo has a year remaining on his current contract with the Bees, who also hold the option to extend that deal by a further 12 months.

Man United facing tough call in wake of wage demands

Football Insider Verdict

Man United have already invested significantly this summer with Matheus Cunha signing from another Premier League side in the form of Wolves.

As a result, they are going to have to weigh these demands from Mbeumo carefully as they plan their financial expenditure going forward.

Much has been made of the cost-cutting measures the club have had to take recently, which will leave some wondering whether they can afford to pay wages of this level to the Brentford ace.

That is particularly the case while the club have so far yet to sanction any major sales in the window, meaning they have yet to raise any funds of clear space in the budget themselves.

Of course, some may argue that it is also understandable that Mbeumo is demanding this much to make a move to Old Trafford.

It is no secret how bad Man United have been this season, and so he is taking a big risk for his career from a football perspective if he is to move there.

As a result, he is at least going to expect to have some significant financial reimbursement for taking a chance such as this, and it will be intriguing to see how this impacts negotiations.
