McAvennie ‘can’t believe’ Rangers sold Glen Kamara to Leeds – ‘he was the best player at Rangers’
Glen Kamara “wouldn’t look out of place” in the Premier League should Leeds United get promoted.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham United and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie was shocked that Rangers let him depart for the Championship side this summer.
Since his move to Daniel Farke’s side, Kamara has racked up 942 minutes and has started 11 of Leeds’ last 13 league matches, notching two assists.

The Finnish international fell out of favour at Ibrox after Michael Beale joined the club but was a vital part of the Gers’ success under Steven Gerrard – but the £5.5million fee Leeds paid now looks a bargain.
McAvennie claimed he was Rangers’ best player and he has what it takes to shine in the English top flight.
“He was the best player at Rangers,” he told Football Insider.
“I couldn’t believe it that they let him go to Leeds. £50,000 he cost them from Dundee.
“For me to see Kamara do well at Leeds is good. He’s a decent player and I like seeing good players in the Championship.
“He must have been disheartened at Rangers. He’s got the potential to be a star in the Premier League.
“He’s 28 so he’s in his prime age, so he’d be great for Leeds if they do get promoted.

“He definitely wouldn’t look out of place in the Premier League. He can control the ball, he can control the pace of the game.
“He’s a fantastic player.”
