McAvennie claims Rangers could crumble as they suffer from issue that ‘killed Celtic’ last season
Frank McAvennie claims Rangers are the victims of what derailed Celtic’s title defence last season.
The Parkhead icon, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to both sides’ start to the season.
Rangers and Celtic are level in the SPFL table, both with two wins from three games.

Celtic are the form team, winning their last six games in all competitions.
The Gers look a shadow of the team that walked to the Premiership title last season and have already lost their unbeaten record.
Celtic were in a similar position last season after almost a decade of dominance.
McAvennie claims the expectation of success is getting to Rangers and claimed no one is scared of facing Steven Gerrard’s side anymore.
“Rangers are doing what Celtic did last season,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Teams know they can beat Rangers, there’s no fear factor anymore. That killed Celtic last season.
“That’s exactly what happened to Celtic last year, people realised they aren’t unbeatable.
“That’s what has happened this season. Last year they won the league at a canter but it’s a lot harder to keep it.
“Celtic will want the chase, being the underdog suits them. Rangers were chasing for so long and now they aren’t.
“Now we have to see if they can handle the pressure, they could crumble.”

Rangers and Celtic face each other in the firm Old Firm of the season next weekend.
The Hoops failed to beat their city rivals last season as their title defence fell apart.
