McAvennie fears for Ben Davies and 28-year-old after source’s Rangers transfer update
Frank McAvennie fears Ben Davies and Tom Lawrence could struggle at Rangers as Scotland is like “a goldfish bowl”.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Celtic striker said English players “can’t hack” playing in the Scottish league as it is such a “different way of playing” to down south.
On Monday (18 July), sources told this site that Liverpool defender Ben Davies, 26, will undergo a medical at Ibrox.

The deal is said to be worth around £4million with the player set to sign a four-year contract at Ibrox.
Rangers also confirmed (8 July) the signing of the Tom Lawrence, 28, from Derby.
He joined the Gers on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with the Rams.
When asked for his assessment of the recent additions, McAvennie told Football Insider: “There’s an awful lot of players, good players, who come up from England and think they’ll just be able to stroll through.
“Then they can’t hack it because it’s a different way of playing.
“It is a goldfish bowl. You can be out in the street and people are always coming up to you. It’s 24/7 and whether people can handle that is a different question.“
Lawrence made 38 appearances for Derby last season across all competitions.

During that time he scored 11 goals and provided five assists.
Davies has not made a competitive appearance for Liverpool and spent last season on loan with Sheffield United.
