McAvennie ‘fears’ for Brendan Rodgers after Celtic confession
Frank McAvennie ‘fears’ for Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City but insists he won’t regret leaving Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops and West Ham striker said the Bhoys “wouldn’t be the same team” if Rodgers hadn’t left.
The Foxes boss joined the East Midlands club in 2019 after three years at Parkhead.

Leicester are yet to win a Premier League game this season and suffered a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday (27 August).
The Celts, now under Ange Postecoglou’s management, kick off their Champions League campaign against Real Madrid next week (6 September).
The Glasgow club have not lost a competitive game this season.
As quoted by FootballScotland (15 August), Rodgers said a large reason for his decision to leave Celtic was a lack of a transfer budget.
Postecoglou has made seven signings for the Scottish champions this summer.
Leicester are the only club in the top five European Leagues that haven’t made a signing this summer, with the transfer window closing on Thursday (1 September).
When asked if Rodgers will regret leaving Celtic given their current success, McAvennie told Football Insider: “He made his choice.
“Brendan Rodgers wouldn’t have brought the Japanese players in and Celtic wouldn’t be the same team if he stayed.
“You ask any Cetlic supporter now who they’d rather have, there’s no question it would be Ange.
“I don’t know what’s happened down at Leicester because they’ve not spent a penny.
“Brendan was a Celtic supporter and it’ll be strange but I don’t think he’ll be concerned about whether he should have stayed or not. He wanted to go back to the Premier League. He got free rein down there to do what he wants.

“But I fear for him down there. I don’t know what the situation is at Leicester. I fear for him but I think he’ll get a bit longer.
“I don’t think he’ll be thinking too much about Celtic and I don’t think Ange will be thinking too much about him.“
In other news, McAvennie has tipped Celtic to pull Giorgios Giakoumakis U-turn after latest.
