McAvennie hails 'amazing' Morelos after incredible Rangers footage emerges

Frank McAvennie has claimed Alfredo Morelos is reaping the benefits of working with Steven Gerrard and Gary McAllister at Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic and St Mirren striker claimed the “amazing” 24-year-old does not get enough credit outside of Ibrox.

Morelos scored an incredible goal in training this week, as Steven Gerrard’s side prepared for the second leg of their Europa League Round of 16 tie with Slavia Prague.

‘EL Bufalo’ has been in fine form since the turn of the year, with seven goals and eight assists in 11 appearances across all competitions.

In an interview with Caracol Radio this week, the striker revealed he is excited by the prospect of “very big teams” watching him in the latter stages of the Europa League.

McAvennie expects Morelos to play a big role in the second leg at Ibrox.

“He will be a key player tonight,” he told Football Insider after watching the training ground footage.

“Morelos does not get enough credit outside of Rangers but he is such an amazing player. He’s got that experience now and he looks like he is enjoying himself at the moment.

“Stevie Gerrard and Gary McAllister must still join in with the games in training. They will be the best two on the park probably and that rubs off on the players.

“The strikers learn from their shooting and the midfielders will learn from their passes. He has soaked all of that up.”
