Frank McAvennie is convinced Rodrigo De Paul will snub Leeds United if he has the chance to sign for Atletico Madrid.
The former West Ham striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims the lure of Champions League football could sway the midfielder’s thinking.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims Atletico Madrid have opened talks to sign De Paul in cash plus player deal.

In early May, Football Insider revealed Leeds have continued to closely monitor De Paul’s situation and he is one of their top targets.
Atletico just won La Liga for the first time in nine years as Barcelona and Real Madrid suffered through incredibly poor campaigns.
Leeds finished ninth in the Premier League on their return to the top flight.
When asked who De Paul would choose between Leeds and Atletico, McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild, “You go to Atletico.
“All day long. That’s no disrespect to Leeds. That’s just the way it is unfortunately.
“They’re a huge club but they’re not up there. It’s a big club in this county but they haven’t done it for years.
“I don’t know what the situation is with him but as a player, I would be going to Atletico.
“They’re in the Champions League, they just won the league. Diego Simone is a great coach, mind you so is Marcelo Bielsa.
“But if it’s a straight shootout between the two, I think he picks Atletico.”
De Paul picked up nine goals and 10 assists in Serie A this year as Udinese finished 14th.
The midfielder recently joined up with Argentina ahead of his country’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
