McAvennie hails ‘incredible’ Ange Postecoglou amid ‘massive’ Celtic claim

Frank McAvennie has lauded Ange Postecoglou’s work ethic at Celtic.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker is impressed by the Parkhead club’s “incredible turnaround” thanks to Postecoglou.

As quoted by GlasgowWorld (8 November), the 57-year-old has said that the bulk of the work for the January transfer window has been done.

The Australian added that he now has the chance to use the time before the restart to plan for the summer window.

On Wednesday (23 November), the Celts confirmed the signing of Japanese defender Yuki Kobayashi from Vissel Kobe.

The 22-year-old put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Hoops and joins up with fellow countrymen Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi.

According to the Daily Record (28 November), the Green and Whites have agreed a fee with Montreal defender Alistair Johnston who looks set to join the Glasgow giants in January.

McAvennie has been impressed with Postecoglou’s approach to transfer business so far.

What he is saying now is that he is going to use this time now that they are back from Sydney to identify players for the summer,” he told Football Insider.

That is a massive a difference from what Celtic used to be like. They would not buy a player until they had made sure they got into the Champions League.

It is an incredible turnaround so well played to Ange that is brilliant.”
