McAvennie makes Chelsea transfer claim after Christian Pulisic update from Italy – ‘I know Billy Reid’

Frank McAvennie has suggested Christian Pulisic will leave Chelsea if he is not in Graham Potter’s plans for the season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Potter will take a “couple of weeks” to figure out his best team.

The 24-year-old was on the bench for the Blues’ game against Crystal Palace on Saturday (1 October).

He was subbed on for the final six minutes of the game and provided the assist for Conor Gallagher’s match winning goal.

According to Gezzatto della Sport (28 September), AC Milan are interested in the USA international.

The report states that the Italian club will make a move for the winger if Rafael Leao leaves the club.

Pulisic was said to be interested in leaving Stamford Bridge during the summer over concerns about playing time ahead of the World Cup.

When asked if the attacker will look for a move away if he’s not in Potter’s plans, McAvennie told Football Insider: “Of course he will if he’s not in the plans.

It’s going to take another couple of weeks before Potter finds his best team and finds who he can trust and who he can rely on. He’ll do alright, he’s got a good team with him.

I know Billy Reid, he’s a good coach. People are saying he can’t handle the superstars but why not? If you’re the gaffer you’re there on merit, not anything else. Couple of things I’ve seen of him, he’ll get the respect out the dressing room.
